Common questions
Who can adopt a child in Singapore, and what is the process?
Adoption is governed by the Adoption of Children Act 2022, in force since 15 October 2024. Applicants generally must be at least 25 and at least 21 years older than the child, attend mandatory briefings, pass an Adoption Suitability Assessment and then apply to the Family Justice Courts for an adoption order.
